Bonnie “Prince” Billy / Nomadic Revery @ the Record Collector / Iowa City 2006

I arrived at the Record Collector at 6am on this Sunday morning in August, thinking I would find a line of people outside waiting to see Will Oldham in this unique setting.  Turns out I was the only one there, for 6 hours!  Giving me the chance to get some reading done…also leaving me with best seat in the house. I had to buy an album to get in, so I remember buying one by the Ohshees, which I don’t remember liking that much.

The old Record Collector always did smell of Subway, but not on this fine Sunday…it smelled of the beer and fruit they passed out during the show.  Bonnie Billy actually played a full set of music, including most of his album “I See A Darkness”.  If felt very lucky to be a part of this.
